The MOTUS 4P Joint Approach

MOTUS 4P Joint Approach

Stop wondering if you're pushing too hard,
or worrying about re-injury

We designed our 4P Joint by Joint Approach to systematically determine WHERE your problem is coming from, WHY it’s there and HOW to heal it for long term strength and mobility.

In science-speak, we specialize in assessing the entire kinetic chain, which means we analyze your body as an entire system, starting with your breath.

There are many approaches to rehabilitating an injury and not every person's injury is the same.

We are constantly searching for the source of pain and not just treating the site of the pain.

We have to identify the root cause of the injury to prevent it from happening again.

Our team will work with you to create a plan for your recovery that is both functional and effective.

After visits to a chiropractor, our doctor, a month of rest, ice, x-rays and MRI's, we were still in the dark and my son's pain was only worsening. I called MOTUS. Within the first evaluation, they were able to identify the source of my son's pain. His pain has disappeared after only a few visits. If you're looking for quality care and a place that will hone in on the problem, then this is your place!

Manual Therapy

Joint Mobilization

Joint Mobilization offers targeted manual techniques to improve joint range of motion, reduce stiffness, and alleviate pain. By restoring proper joint mechanics and function, patients experience enhanced flexibility and mobility, facilitating their overall rehabilitation progress and quality of life.

Soft tissue mobilization

Soft Tissue Mobilization uses hands on manual techniques to release soft tissue restrictions, break down scar tissue, and reduce pain. By promoting better circulation and tissue healing, it enhances flexibility, reduces inflammation, and facilitates improved movement patterns for patients.

Cupping therapy offers a non-invasive and effective method for promoting blood circulation, reducing muscle tension, and alleviating pain. This ancient practice is believed to reduce inflammation and promote overall wellbeing through its therapeutic effects on the body.

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization employs specialized tools to manipulate the skin, myofascia, muscles, and tendons by various direct compressive stroke techniques. This technique enhances tissue healing, reduces pain, and accelerates rehabilitation processes, providing effective relief for various musculoskeletal conditions.

Passive Range of Motion

Passive Range of Motion is the range of motion that is achieved when an outside force (such as a therapist) exclusively causes movement of a joint and is usually the maximum range of motion that a joint can move. By gently moving the joints through their full range without active muscle engagement, this promotes circulation, reduces stiffness, and preserves joint function.

Stretching Therapy Stretching is a physical exercise that requires putting a body part in a certain position that’ll serve in the lengthening and elongation of the muscle or muscle group and thus enhance its flexibility and elasticity. Stretching enhances flexibility which prevents injuries and improves overall performance by increasing the range of motion in muscles and joints.

Exercise Therapy

Flywheel Training

Flywheel training is a strength training method that uses a flywheel to create constant resistance during the pull and return movements of an exercise. Flywheel training offers variable resistance throughout the range of motion, which facilitates isoinertial training and eccentric overload. Flywheel training is shown to lead to improvements of strength and power, hypertrophy, muscle activation, muscle length, and tendon stiffness. This in turn can improve athletic performance in speed, jump height, change of direction and resilience to injury.

Blood Flow Restriction

Blood flow restriction (BFR) is a rehabilitation modality that uses a tourniquet to reduce arterial inflow and occlude venous outflow. BFR enables targeted muscle strengthening with lighter loads, reducing stress on injured tissues while still promoting muscle growth and strength. This technique can reduce recovery times, enhance muscle hypertrophy, and improve overall rehabilitation outcomes, particularly in cases of injury or post-operative rehabilitation where traditional resistance training may be limited.

Neuromuscular Re-education

Neuromuscular re-education is a technique used by physical therapists to help restore normal body movement patterns. Neuromuscular re-education is based on neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to form new neural connections and re-organize in response to experience and learning. By targeting specific muscle groups and enhancing neuromuscular control, this form of therapy promotes improved coordination, strength, and functional movement, ultimately leading to enhanced mobility and reduced risk of future injuries.

Strength training (also known as resistance exercise) increases muscle strength by making muscles work against a weight or force. Resistance exercise is considered a form of anaerobic exercise. Different forms of strength training include using your own body weight, free weights, weight machines, resistance bands and plyometrics.

Power Training

Power training is a type of exercise that focuses on how fast you can move resistance, rather than how much resistance you can move. It’s a way of doing strength training that emphasizes overcoming resistance as fast as possible. Power training can help you get faster and more powerful, and can help you hit peak power faster, which can lead to better performance.

Stability Work

Stability exercises help improve balance and core strength, which are crucial for injury prevention and optimal performance. By enhancing neuromuscular control and joint stability, these exercises reduce the risk of injuries, as well as enhance athletic performance by promoting efficient movement patterns and biomechanical efficiency.

Active Mobility Work

Active Mobility Work promotes tissue flexibility, improves muscle coordination, and optimizes functional movement patterns. Mobility exercises are targeted movements performed to improve how well you can control and move a joint through its entire range of motion.

Theragun offers athletes targeted percussive therapy, which reduces muscle tension, soreness, and promotes blood circulation. Its ergonomic design and customizable settings allow for precise, deep tissue massage, facilitating quicker recovery, enhanced flexibility, and improved athletic performance.

Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy aids in reducing pain, inflammation, and accelerating the healing process by stimulating cellular repair mechanisms. This non-invasive technique penetrates deep tissues, making it a valuable supplement to therapy for addressing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, and improved functional outcomes.

Recovery Boots

Pneumatic compression help athletes in reducing muscle soreness, swelling, and improving circulation for faster recovery. Through controlled cyclical pressure these boots enhancing blood flow and lymphatic drainage, as well as the removal of metabolic waste products, promoting muscle recovery, and reducing the risk of overuse injuries.

INDIBA accelerates the natural tissue repair process. Treatments can begin in the acute stage of an injury; and continuous frequency modulation ensures there is a bio-stimulation effect without inducing heat into the tissue. In chronic situations, INDIBA induces an increase in deep blood flow by 79%, with a significant increase of tissue temperature, lasting well beyond the treatment time. Leading to increased recovery times and improved sports performance.

Motus Physical Therapy has quite literally changed my life! I give them the highest and most sincere recommendation I can. The backstory…. I almost skipped my first appointment. I was disheartened and ready to give up. I walked in for my first appointment using a cane, and walked out (slowly) on my own. I’ve continued to get better ever since. In the years prior to finding Motus, I struggled with debilitating pain in my back. During the worst episodes, I was completely immobile for weeks at a time. That’s no exaggeration. I lived every day with 5/10 pain, and in my worst days, when my back would go out, I’d be at 10/10. It would come out of nowhere, and drop me. Literally drop me to the ground like a bolt of lightening. I couldn’t move, couldn’t put weight on my legs, and found myself using a walker just to struggle to and from the restroom. That was my life for 4-5 years as I attempted everything I could find for relief! I tried physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, inversion therapy, active release therapy, pain medication, potent prescribed anti-in inflammatories and spent tens of thousands of dollars with no lasting results. Now I can do anything! I golf, surf, and live again. I still perform maintenance on my back, but I haven’t had a flare up in forever!!
